ICC men's cricket world cup trophy reaches Leh | KNO

Leh, Jul 08 (KNO): As part of the country-wide journey, the International Cricket Council (ICC) men's cricket world cup trophy Saturday reached Leh district in cold desert Ladakh. This year's men's world cup is scheduled to commence on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India is the host of the world cup this year. Honorary Secretary Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Jay Shah as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) in a tweet informed that the men's world cup trophy Saturday reached Leh in connection with the trophy tour. "From the mesmerizing Pangong Lake in Leh to the schools of Mumbai, Kolkata, the vibrant streets of India are set to witness a spectacular journey as the ICC World Cup 2023 Trophy Tour begins," he tweeted. “This tournament of a lifetime will inspire a generation,” the BCCI secretary tweeted. As per KNO, the trophy was seen at the world-famous Pangong Lake in Leh district. It was also seen shining outside a Stupa (Buddhist temple). Pangong Lake is known as a tourist attraction destination across the globe for its uniqueness. It also gained momentum after superhit Amir Khan starer 3 Idiots was filmed there. India will be hosting the world cup for the fourth time since its inception. With 12 cities as the backdrop, it will help the hosts showcase rich diversity and world-class cricketing infrastructure. Apart from parts of India, the trophy tour events will be held in 18 other countries as well. It aims to give cricket enthusiasts across the globe a glimpse of it.
